The African American Men’s Health Fair

Offering Free Health Screenings at Muskegon Heights High School

Muskegon, MI- On Saturday, January 20, 2018, Health Project’s Community Outreach team will be hosting its 17th Annual African American Men’s Health Fair. The event will offer free health screenings for chronic illnesses. Our focus is on African American males ages 30 years and older, but everyone is welcome to attend.

African American men have the highest prostate cancer rates of any racial or ethnic group in the United States. This is due to the lack of participation in screening, knowledge of the disease, health beliefs, barriers, and relationships with primary healthcare providers. Men’s Health Coordinator, Ivory Morris, stated, “This is a perfect opportunity for African American men to come out and get tested. It is absolutely Free!”

Many screenings are available; such as, diabetes, prostate cancer, cholesterol, blood pressure, HIV/AIDS, healthy breathing test, and many more.

What: African American Men’s Health Fair

Where:  Muskegon Heights High School, 2441 Sanford St, Muskegon Heights, MI

When: Saturday, January 20th from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
