Diabetes Conference

The African American Diabetes Conference is held each November to educate the community about living with the disease, spotting the early signs, and how to avoid it. The event features free health screenings, informational sessions, lunch, and a guest keynote speaker.

In addition to diabetes, the conference addresses culture-specific health concerns of the African-American community, such as obesity, physical activity, cholesterol, and hypertension. Contributors include representatives from health equipment, supply and service vendors, two local Federally Qualified Health Centers (FCHQs), pharmacies, podiatrists, optometrists, and other specialty care clinical practices.
